# Availability It’s clear that it takes two koins, a male and a female, to perform the Ai dance. In order to take part in the ritual, you can either choose from two of your own koin, or notify other owners that your male koin is available. Activating the availability of your male koin means that other owners can select him to perform the ritual, in which case the resulting koinie will be owned by the other person, not you. However, you will receive a financial benefit. You can learn more about these benefits in the Costs and Benefits section. There’s a catch. As long as your male koin is available to perform the ritual, he will not be able to compete in races.
